I don't know much about Warhammer but the Imperium never seemed to care much about the Imperial Guards lives. I mean frak they only issue them flak jackets, 38,000 years into the future and the main infantry force is using Vietnam era protection. The least they could do is give them something with ceramic plate in it.

Actually, IG only have a Lasgun supplied. Everything else varies widely. Some units have advanced armor, others such as the Moridians still fight in packed firing lines of Civil War era USA.

What I should have said was: that's stupid. That far into the future with Lasguns and some units still practice Civil War tactics. Either their extremely lazy or their just incompetant. Seriously fire and movement tactics aren't hard to graspe.
